WORKER
OF THE YEAR 2008 When we think of all the workers in the club that put their "all" into their jobs this summer, it is easy to feel humbled. Our club succeeds because of the efforts of all the workers , all season long, and that goes for staffing the other regions races as well. This Banquet is our opportunity to recognize one among us who works all the time for our club and SCCA. We all seem to be so busy these days, it is difficult to find extra time to even have a weekend to yourself. But I can tell you of someone that is at a track in Cendiv every weekend. This person always has a smile, always ready to help whomever might ask for it, and never gets ruffled no matter what is thrown his way. You can’t help but to admire a selfless soul like this. We all see each other on the weekend, but do not realize that for some, the business of club racing goes on thru the week. When you see all the work done on a race event, you could not fathom that some duties require consultation, cajoling, phone calls reports coaching and more reports. I am speaking of someone we all know, that deserves our recognition for all the effort that he does, every week all year. He joined SCCA in 1961, and tried every specialty. For at least two decades, he raced his own car and ran a prep business for his class of car. This year, you would find him at every race in Cendiv. The weekdays were spent on doing the job of Area Director and Steward. So what type of person juggles track duties with that of Director - the man we decided should carry the honor of Worker of the Year, because stewards, are –after all – workers too. Please recognize Bob Lybarger. |
