Autorama wrap-up A letter from DavidlE Anserson and phots by Tim Marx Wow, Neat, She drives that car? How can I drive race a car like that.
I like to Thank Jim, Dede and Darrell and all the club members who came out to the show and worked our display for giving up they weekend to help the club at the Beloit Autorama. This year the Auto Rama had a total 1,289 show cars. At the end of the day the did not have the total number of people who attend the show. Most all day We had people looking over the cars and asking a ton of question about the cars and how do the get in to it. These are a few of the remarks heard at our BVR Display at the Beloit Autorama. I had one young lady in her early teen eyes pop open along with her mouth hitting the ground; She was looking at Dede and Darrell Solo Mustang. She asked me if I drove it. I told her no. But she does, pointing to Dede. I told her yes she does, and she is the Sport Car Club of America Solo National Champion. Then I guess her parents come up and she told them She drive this drive car, pointing to Dede. (They were standing in front of the Mustang) Then there was a woman talking to Dede and Darrell. She told them she had a BMW and one of their friends had told them about solo racing. As the three were talking, her husband walked up and joined them. She informed him of what they were talking and that she wanted to try it. His only comment was: "Dear if you want to, go ahead." So on the whole the Club had a great day and a lot of fun. I once more would like to thank all who help. The Board for giving me to OK to go head with this project, the Overflowing Cup Christian Center, for the loan of table and chairs, Nick Eaton for helping with the set up and being around to help with the last minute things on Sunday. Dede and Darrell for bringing out the Mustang, Jim for bringing out his FV, Tim and Maria, Scott and Pam for helping with the booth. The two best things that a car show chairperson can hear came at the end of the day. One gentleman from the Keith School Car Show committee in Rockford, Illinois came up to Maria, and started talking to her about the show they host as a fund-raiser. Then Maria called me over and we started talking about the show. As of this time we have been invited in to there show in April 2008. Then as we were putting stuff away, the Chairperson for the Autorama asked us (the Club) back in 2008 MANY THANKS TO ALL DavidlE
